POINT

POINTsix. I have finally gone down to part time at work. When you are full time you are considered to be a .9, that is what I was pre-Caleb(3days per week).  After I came back from maternity leave I was a .75(3days one week, and 2 days the next). Getting closer to our family goal for Mama’s work schedule but not quite there. A little while ago I was told by my manager that a .6 was finally an option for me. I officially took the new part time position a month or so ago but I had to finish out this schedule. So this is the first week of me being a .6: 2 days a week now. I haven’t felt the ease or organization of being a part-timer just yet, but I am oh so excited to officially be one!

POINT-er finger. Caleb found his pointerfinger! FINALLY! We are so excited and encouraged with this progress. He can point on command and point when he wants something(if he wants to!). For us, this is a big deal and we love it. We have been working with him to get his hands from being fisted all the time. This really aids in our communication!

Food Allergy Mama

Yep, that’s me! Well not the original, author one(that’s Kelly Rudnicki) but I am a Mama that has to worry about every ingredient my son comes in contact with.

When I first found out that Caleb was allergic to everything, I ordered this cookbook. (recommended to me by one of my patients) We got his birthday cake recipe out of it but since I didn’t make his cake I had never used it. But today I made home-made, from SCRATCH pancakes and strawberry muffins! (toot toot- that’s me tooting my own horn!) Caleb ate them up! It was so nice to not have to worry about if he was going to have a reaction, because I made them, I knew exactly what was in them. They were really easy and pretty darn tasty. I was impressed.

 

I went the no syrup route for C, but I enjoyed mine with a little drizzle.

I just happened to have frozen strawberries in the freezer! (you can add any berry)

I am not joking, I swear I heard Caleb say(clearly) “yum-A”. We always say “yummy” around meal times, so it’s quite possible that he was trying to say it.

We appreciate all that all Veterans have done for this wonderful Country. Thank you to everyone. I couldn’t even begin to list all the Veterans we know, I would hate to leave anyone out(plus I don’t have pictures of everyone). But you know who you are and we Thank YOU!

Through the months

Four, eight, twelve ONE (there were one too many e’s in twelve to be able to spell it with blocks!)

 

Birth through one year in his chair. To take our year and place it in one picture really makes it go so fast.

 

ONE year!

 

Well it has officially come and gone, our baby’s first year. Time really is flying. Here are some more Caleb tidbits:

• Weighs 22lbs 4oz which is the 50%
• Height 31 inches which is the 85%(all torso)
• Head is down to 90%
• Has 5 teeth (not the original 7 we were thinking, the doctor said that his two front teeth, that we were calling 4, are really just big ‘notched’ teeth.)
• Still loves Elmo, balls, HATS, straws, greeting cards and books
• He rolls anywhere he wants to go know. Usually he stays in about the same area but every once in a while he will surprise you with his quick speed.
• Still in PT and educational therapy each for an hour a week. We love Mrs. Kristy and Mrs.Kim
• Mommy’s goal was for Caleb to be crawling by a year, the PT said “well, he is 12 months for 4 more weeks”…SO you’re saying there’s a chance? We are still working hard at this skill and he is getting stronger and stronger every day.
• Is a great eater, and boy is he eating!
• Started the weaning process but is kind of frustrating because he is a great nurser but not a good drinker. He knows how to do it he just won’t. I’m kind of worried about him getting enough to drink.
• Mostly sleeps on his back or side still but we do occasionally catch him on his belly and it makes us laugh.
• Has had a total of 5 haircuts
• We turned around his car seat and for the first week(and sometimes still occasionally) he would scream hysterically. He hated it. I think it was torcher for him to be able to see us but us not look at him. He is doing much better now and just sucks his thumb and looks out the window or plays toys.
• Sleeps from about 7-8pm to 5-6am and then naps at 9 and 2(usually about 1-2 hours)
• Size 4 diapers
• Size 4 shoes
• Size 18month tops and 12month bottoms(but usually wears 18mo bottoms because that’s what we have most of)
• Favorite food is mandarin oranges with chicken, pears,cheerios, mummums, and noodles in close second.
• Still refuses a bottle or regular sippy cup-only will drink from a straw and loves chick-fil-a’s kids cup with bendy straw
• Still a very happy, content, lovey baby but his strong will is starting to take effect. Can be very loud when he needs to be!
• Still doing signing with him. His signs: waves ‘hi’, said ‘more’ at his birthday party, ‘eat’ a couple of times. Although he understands a whole lot more.
• Verbalizes Hi(sometimes), Hat(sounds more like hhhhhhhhhhhhhh), bubbles( sounds more like bbbbbb), mom/mama. He is picking up in his babbling a whole lot. Josh and I get so tickled listening to him “talk”.

 

Extra updates(Between his birthday and me getting this post done)

• Got #6 tooth
• Moved up from the infant nursery to the crawler room at church. He loved it. Poor boy was surrounded by crying babies and infant toys with really no stimulation. Hopefully he will see all the crawlers and be motivated.
• Survived the time change again, and did very well…the last “fall back” was a doozie.
• Found out we can’t eat at Arby’s, ate a tiny fry and headed towards anaphylactic again but stopped the process early with Benadryl.

Professional Pictures

We had some professional pictures done and we couldn’t be happier with the results! There are SO many good ones(like 200!), it was hard to pick just a few to show you! It’s going to be even harder to pick which ones we want to get printed.

We had these done late October, but we happened to catch the leaves perfectly.(oh and it was almost 90 degrees that day!)

I wanted to get some “Farm” shots, so the photographer invited us over to her grandmother’s farm complete with a few old barns and even an old tractor!

Christmas Cards

We had a nine month photo shoot in July and then a one year photo shoot in October. Which means that I have some awesome pictures to work with for our 2010 Christmas Card. I am usually a last minute, although they do get out before Christmas, card sender. But with the cutest little model I can not help but to make plans for our amazing pictures. Last year I used www.shutterfly.com, and I plan to use them this year as well. You can make the cutest cards there and it is super easy. There are regular Christmas cards(check here) and then my favorite, picture Christmas cards (check those options here). And actually there are so many options, I might look into other products(to Josh’s dismay) like address labels!

Here is last year’s Christmas card photo, which took MANY photo shoots and several locations to get! I have actually started a collection of our Christmas cards since our first one in 2007, but I need to scan them. Maybe if I can get Josh to scan them, I will make a post of our Christmas cards past!

Heater still broken

Really?!?!

Why is Caleb eating dinner with Scott at 7:30pm in only his diaper? Well let me just tell you the story.

Last weekend our heater broke but they couldn't come till yesterday. But when the heater guy got there he needed a special part, so we had to wait until today for him to come back. Everything seemed to be going great and our house seemed to be nice and toasty. The crazy started when we all got home about 5:30. Our house reaked of gas and our carbon monoxide detector was beeping like crazy. Fast forward...we are staying at our friends house(thanks C Family!) and I was feeding Caleb dinner and noticed he was having an allergic reaction from the one piece of Arby's french fry he had. I was thinking Arby's for the first time some reason. His face got all red. I gave him benedryl and stripped him down to be able to monitor his rash. Then he started wheezing. Are you kidding me?!? But then the benedryl must have started working because things started settling down.

That was our crazy night. Things are going better now and Caleb is sleeping soundly and we are getting ready to enjoy some dvr with some great friends.
