Naps
We are in a Nap dilemma. His old schedule had him napping at 9am and 2pm. His “ideal” new nap schedule would have him down to one nap right after lunch.
See how well the switch is going. (These are from different days, we have tried the new nap schedule for about a week!)
3pm:
10:15am:
haha. That boy.
He is right in the middle of the nap schedules, were nothing is just quite right. Mommy is completely content with the 2 nap schedule but Daddy thinks Little C is ready for the one nap day. Looks like C is in charge whether we like it or not. We will keep playing with his day to find the right schedule for him.
Sweet dreams little boy.

Mr. Comedian
He got a laugh from me once(I know, I usually try to refrain from laughing at bad behavior) and now I can’t live it down.
“Caleb, where do you like to put your food?” ha.
He puts each bite up there are then waits for the response. Just when I thought meals couldn’t get any more messy. He thinks it’s the funniest thing. We have gotten some good giggles out of this one.
Silly boy.

Croup
This week we had to take Caleb to the doctor’s office twice and the Emergency Room twice for CROUP. Our family got a hold of some virus and it has knocked us all down. I really can’t remember the last time that I have felt so bad. The doctors say that some babies are just more susceptible to croup, where as others for ear infections or lung infections. We just drew the lucky straw for the virus to go right to his airway. He literally wakes us gasping for air, coughing and choking. We try to normal remedies of hot showers and cold freezers to no avail. We have done epinephrine breathing treatments and heavy doses of steroids to try to clear his airway(in the ER). Things are getting better slowly but surely. He still seems to have a little trouble when he sleeps.
The first ER trip was in the middle of the night, so no pictures were taken, not to mention, we all felt awful and couldn’t wait to get home. Our second trip was after we went to the doctor’s office(they sent us straight there). We spent our entire Saturday there.
Here is C watching cartoons waiting to feel better.
The children’s ER has the coolest murals on the walls.
The day was getting long! He didn’t have to wear the mask, we were just playing!
They had to draw blood for some blood test including blood cultures to see why we can’t get his fever down or the croup to go away! They had to stick the poor boy 3 times and ended up using the IV team to get an IV in. They never needed the IV, it was just there “in case”. He was such a trooper. He wasn’t allowed to eat ALL day and was surprisingly good.
Like I said it was a long day! Just getting silly.
We were finally able to go home about 7pm! We have to follow up with the doctors on Monday to repeat some blood work, because in looking for something else, they found out that his platelet count was low. They repeated it but it was “clumped” so they decided to wait to see what they showed later. Say your prayers that it was just a miscount and his platelet count is fine. Also that this croup will leave and we can keep his airway open without any more trips to the ER.
Here are his hands the day after, poor boy is all bruised up. It’s nice to know we can get good medical care but at the same time it’s sad when it’s your little guy.

Look what we got!
A GATE!
Caleb is getting closer and closer to those ‘normal’ milestones.
He absolutely LOVES it! He loves to stand at it, roll up to it and put his legs and arms through. It’s a new toy! Thanks to Daddy and Gdad for installing it for us. Its so nice to be able to be upstairs and not have to close doors behind us to make sure Caleb stays safe. (note: Christmas decorations in background are now up in the attic-don’t worry!)
Still checking out his new freedom upstairs.
Caleb doing his happy dance. He screams and thrashes his arms and legs around. (note: see Christmas boxes are gone! and also see the book in the picture. They are amazing. I asked my Mom for one for Christmas last year, she got “The night before Christmas”, and I asked Josh’s parents for one this year, they got “All the ways I love you”. This is the one that Gdad and Gmaw got him. They are the recordable books from Hallmark. I think it’s a special way to capture the voices of people they love but don’t get to see often. We highly recommend them even though they are kinda pricey!)
Christmas #2-Santa Nana
Although this year was the year to spend with Josh’s family, Nana couldn’t stand it to not see Little C. So she packed her sleigh car and drove up for a quick visit. We were all glad to see her.
Caleb checking out the Santa Nana loot.
So happy!
Bath toys.
We drew names this year with in my family, and my brother,John, had Caleb. He got him an animated rocking horse. It’s pretty cute. (Just remember John, payback is coming when you have kids!)
Hurry, Nana, I wanna play.
Blocks. Yes! See the top left corner, is one of the presents my mom gave me. A cute, monogrammed, backpack diaper bag-Love.
The big present was a wagon. Got to try it out.
He loves it.
On another note: While Nana was here, she taught Caleb to eat his chicken with ketchup. He did eat a lot more chicken than normal. Sometimes he has a hard time swallowing meat but not with ketchup!
“See Mom, its not too bad!”
Step 1: squirt big pile of ketchup. Step 2: dump chicken on top. Step 3:Let toddler make big mess!
Thanks for coming up Nana! It’s always great to see you!
