Time to brag

No, I am not going to brag about Caleb, that is for another post, but I am going to brag about his daddy. Josh is the best father a boy could ask for! He takes raising his son very seriously. He never complains or hesitates with feedings, burpings, diaper changes, bedtimes or actively engaging to his play. Josh loves his snuggle time, reading time and his new bedtime routines with Caleb. Josh was the only one at the beginning that was able to get Caleb to burp. And now when Caleb is fussy, he is able to comfort Caleb by having him lay across him. Josh is quick to pray for help from God with raising Caleb. As well as being proactive to research for answers for our problems or concerns. Thank you God for giving Josh to Caleb and I. And thank you Josh for all that you do for our family, We love you! Here are just a few pictures of daddy time.

When I first left Caleb alone with Josh. I came home to find them snuggling!
Tummy Time with Daddy

I would sit in the rocking chair to nurse, and Josh would sit on the floor and wait to burp him. This is/was Caleb's favorite burping position. On another note: whenever Josh wears this shirt, Caleb spits up on it! He is NOT a WF fan!
More burping time
"Hurry Up, Noah" read by Daddy, one of the many story times. Josh loves having Caleb lay in his arms in our bed and read to him out of the bible.

First Overnight Adventure

We took Caleb on his first overnight adventure to Papa and Grandma Vicki's. Papa made a bed for Caleb on his treadmill...and it worked like magic, he slept for 6hours and then another 5 hours! Two long stretches in one night! Woohoo. He was able to enjoy some cousin time with Cate(3) and Morgan(6), as well as some precious time with aunts and uncles and of course his G-ma and G-dad.

Other Christmas Activities

When you have 8 people(including Caleb) in your house, you have to have activities and meals planned ahead of time to prevent chaos. How did we fit 8 people in this house... we had Caleb in our room, Z and A in our guest room, Mom in Caleb's room on a mattress on the floor, and the boys in the dining room on blow up mattresses(we put the dining room table in the kitchen, which worked out quite nicely) Besides the snowy hike, we also had a tacky Christmas sweater party, dirty santa, gingerbread house making contest, family pictures, Christmas Eve service, game night and of course, presents and Santa on Christmas Day. We stayed busy but really enjoyed the time we got to spend with everyone. With Zach and I both married, its every other year that we get to have everyone together, which makes it that much more special, until next time...

Tacky Christmas Sweaters. Zach won!

Dirty Santa! Zach stole John's super cool calendar...(sucker!!)
Josh won these glam gloves...
which the boys voted the worst gift!

Scott won the singing Christmas tie,
which he secretly thought was cool.

Snow Hiking

One of the activities we did while my family was in town was hiking at Hanging Rock State Park. We packed our lunch and tailgated in the snowy parking lot. We weren't able to make it all the way up to the top because of the difficulty of the snowy trail, but we had a great time. Uncle Scott even carried "Little C" for me part of the way.

Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow!

We just had our first snow of the season and Caleb's first snow ever. About 4-6 inches, which for where we live is a whole LOT!!! It started snowing here on Friday, but by the time Caleb was able to go out it was getting dark, so we waited until Saturday. We had him bundled in 4 layers, mittens, socks and 3 hats! If he was wiggling in there we would never know! He seemed happy while we were out there, but was squinting most of the time. It was a bit bright with the sun on the white. It is so fun and can't wait to be able to take Caleb snow skiing on day! Why does it look like our son has no arms or legs?? His snowsuit is size 6-9 months, and since he is in 0-3month clothes, it's a bit big, but warm and dry none-the-less! Thank you Lord for Your beautiful work!

Baby Snuggie

They might really be called "sleep bags", but who do they think they are fooling. It is a baby snuggie. We used to swaddle Caleb at night but the temperatures were dropping overnight so we decided to use the sleep bag instead and that is when we discovered its really a snuggie! So Aunt Ashley isn't the only one with a snuggie anymore, Caleb actually has 4!

"Snugglesaurus"

The nursery is finally finished!

We finally got the last picture hung this weekend to complete our nursery! I just love it. Thanks to all the people who contributed to it!

He hasn't slept the night in his crib yet, but he does take naps there. We spend lots of time in the chair.Susan and Nana made the curtains and the pillow, Nicole made the letters, and Rebecca took those amazing maternity pics-great job! And of course Josh for putting all the things together!

Book/toy shelf with all my kid books.
Josh gave Caleb his old ipod, which we keep in his room.
It is full of praise and worship music.

We picked a "life verse" for Caleb,
and thanks to Jodi and Uppercase Living we can remind him of it often.
Our newborn pictures look so cute framed and on the wall!
Thanks to Uppercase Photography for the cute pictures.
(We have a theme with "uppercase", just a coincidence!)

Christmas Picture Bloopers!

We had many attempts for a cute Christmas picture for our cards. We tried several different location, several different days and several different outfits. Some are funnier than others but it was definitely a hoot trying to get the "perfect" one. The picture we actually ended up using, Caleb has his paci. We tried taking it without him but he was so wiggly that he would come out blurry and if we pulled the paci right before the picture took we would get a weird "I was sucking on that" face. He is such a cutie and has such a great temperament that we want to get a picture that showed those things. Pictures just don't do him justice! If you click on the pictures, they enlarge and you can see them better!

The winner of the funniest blooper is:
p.s I had to edit my bloopers page because I titled it Christmas Picture Boopers! :) haha!

Do you notice anything different?

It finally fell off! Hallelujah! It might have taken 6 weeks and 4 days, but his umbilical cord is off! It was taking so long that we finally set a goal of hoping it would fall off by kindergarten. I know you are thinking, hey whats the big deal, but its annoying...swabbing it with alcohol at almost every diaper change and not being able to take a real bath, plus its just gross! His little, ok big, belly is just so cute!

New Happenings

Here are a few pictures from the last few weeks.

Caleb got his first vaccine-Hepatitis B.
Usually they get it in the hospital right after they are born
but we opted to wait until he was a tad older to start the series.
Poor little boo-boo.
Mad he didn't even get a sticker after!

LA's sorority sister, Eileen, came for a visit.
Caleb and Russell-Hanging out with his buddy.

Russell is 4 months OLDER than Caleb.
He is showing Caleb how to sit.

We picked up Josh at work to go get his birth certificate from the courthouse one day. Of course it was lunch time for Caleb, so Daddy sat in the back. He attempted to feed him while we were driving but Caleb wasn't a fan of eating in his carseat. Once we got to the courthouse we sat in the car so little man could finish.
