Contractions had started on Thursday night, and then had some Friday. So by Saturday, Mommy had had enough. Mommy, Daddy, and Caleb took our new double jogger on a long walk to hopefully get/keep things moving in the right direction.
We purposefully went farther than usual to catch the big hills!
It worked! By 4pm the contractions really started to get stronger. And by 7pm the were 2-3 minutes apart. We talked to the doctor at 9pm, and were headed into the hospital! My brother, John came over to stay at our house with Caleb. I contacted the girls at work and so I was admitted straight to labor and delivery and didn’t have to go through the triage unit. Caroline was my nurse when I got there and I got my epidural around midnight. My friend, Caleb’s delivery nurse, and co-worker, Beka, came in on her day off to be Ansley’s delivery nurse too. She got there around 1am when I was nice and comfy.
By 8am I was ready to start pushing. This is were I started to get a little nervous!
But also very excited to have gotten this far!
My “coach” was excited for me too! Until she was out there was still a chance I would have to have a csection.
When I was pushing, Josh saw part of her head. The smooshed, wrinkly part. And said “What is that?!!” Everyone in the room busted out laughing! And at 8:26am Ansley was born! Daddy even got to cut the cord!
Here she is getting her ID bracelets on.
Getting weighed:6lbs 9oz
And measured: 19.5 inches long.
Mommy finally gets to snuggle with the little girl.
Ansley and Beka
Because it was so close to shift change, I was able to get 2 delivery nurses! Beka and Kim. After delivery I had trouble keeping my blood pressure up(80’s/40’s) and was felt very yucky. Usually you stay in Labor and Delivery for about 2 hours(should have been around 10am) after delivery and then move to the Mother/Baby Unit. But I made Kim work a little bit. Everything was finally stable with me by 2pm!
Proud Daddy holding Ansley for the first time.
Getting check out by the nurses in the nursery. Wide awake little girl.
Bath time!
Obviously not a fan.
Uncle John and Nana peeking in on her in the nursery.
Big brother, Caleb comes to visit. Ansley and I are doing “kangaroo care”(skin to skin), it helps with maintaining her blood sugar and temperature and helps my milk supply.
Daddy taught Caleb all about the good hospital ice.
Mommy’s sweet kids.
Caleb trying to figure out this breastfeeding thing.
Too big!
We took a little walk back to Labor and Delivery to visit our friends. Here is her favorite delivery nurse, Beka!

All ready in the carseat.
We are just waiting for the volunteer to come walk us to the nursery to get her security alarm bracelet taken off.
Hospital bands are off and we are outside ready to load up in the car and head home.
Daddy making sure she is nice and secure.
Caleb checking out his baby sister and giving lots of kisses!
“Oh Daddy! I am so glad you guys are home!” Caleb ran to Daddy and gave him a big hug!
Home Sweet Home.
