1 month old

Happy 1 month Birthday Caleb!

We can't believe how fast time is going. He is such a blessing to have in our lives.

Caleb Updates:
  • Starting to hold his head up
  • Out of Newborn diapers and is in size 1
  • Went 5 hours and 57 minutes in between feedings (once!)
  • Having more awake time and making noise and cooing
  • His favorite things are his bouncy, paci and boppy

Caleb wants to say Hello!

(Quick note: the sound may not be so good, so the louder you turn it up, the better you can hear it)

Gobble Gobble

We celebrated Caleb's first Thanksgiving a couple of days early. He was on a mission to weigh more than our turkey, he came close weighing in this week at 10 lbs 9 oz! We are so thankful for a healthy Caleb and all our friends and family.

Date Night

Josh and I went on our first date night on Monday night. We left Caleb with his Nana, Great Grandma and Uncle Scott. We went to dinner at a Mexican Restaurant and then went to the movies and saw Blind Side (Great movie by the way). I couldn't go to the movies when I was pregnant because I couldn't sit still, so this was definitely a treat. I had a really good time but was ready to come back home to my Caleb.

Daddy's turn

Caleb had his first bottle tonight!

We have been talking about doing this since before he was born, so that Josh can take one of the night time feedings plus when I go back to work I can keep breastfeeding. The lactation consultants suggest waiting to introduce a bottle or paci until about 3 weeks. He will be 3 weeks on Tuesday (can you believe it??!?!).

We were able to get him to take the paci a few days ago. We have played with trying to get him to take a paci for a little while but he would just look at us like we were crazy and chew on it. Instead of his normal evening feeding, I pumped and then Josh fed him that milk. Caleb acted a little confused at first but then dove right in and ate it all up! He was a bit more messy with the bottle than he usually is with feedings, but I am sure that will improve with practice. I can not wait until Josh takes over one of the nighttime feedings...sleeping more than 3 hours at a time??!?!?...whoop whoop!

Dr. R

I had my 2 week appointment with Dr. R. to check out the incision. I don't really have a problem with having a scar, but having a "wound" really freaks me out! I am NOT a wound nurse! At the 24 hour mark after delivery, I had to take off the dressing in the shower, after a breakdown, almost passing out and Josh getting soaked, I finally got it off! Under the dressing were steristrips over the incision. I was told that they should fall off or if they didn't at the 2 week mark to go ahead and take them off(there were 12 of those little buggers!). It took me 2 days, almost passing out in the shower(again...), and Josh "quitting" because of my shinnanagins... I finally got them off just in time for the appointment. I just knew Dr. R would make fun of me if I couldn't get them off. She was very sweet and said you could have left them on and I would have taken them off! NOW YOU TELL ME!!!

While I was there I got to get a couple of pictures of Caleb with the doctor that delivered him. I meant to get these pictures at the hospital but I forgot. Thank you Dr. R for getting us a healthy baby! Even though a c-section wasn't in my/our plan, we appreciated and trusted your expertise!

Happy Baby

Caleb is such a happy baby! He is just very content and patient! I know these aren't true smiles yet, probably just gas, but its still fun to see his personality show on his face already. I was getting ready the other morning and had him propped up on his boppy. I would go over every once in a while to talk to him and just happened to catch these big smiles with my cell phone camera! You are such a joy to have in our lives, Mr.Caleb!

Baby Photo Shoot

We had our first professional pictures taken this past week. They are all done with a sleeping baby in his birthday suit. Our email telling us what to expect said there would be lots of pee and poop since he would be naked for about 4 hours! The time flew by, believe it or not, and we got some really good pictures. We have only had a sneak peak of a few but we were really impressed and can't wait until we can see all the proofs and get to share them with you!

Just under 1 week old

Doctor Visits

Caleb was born weighing 8lbs 11oz. When we left the hospital he was down to 8lbs 1oz. They are expected to lose weight, and are "allowed" to lose up to 7%,which for Caleb would bring him down to 8lbs 1oz. So the doctors wanted to see us the next day,Saturday October 31st, after we got home from the hospital for a weight check. He then weighed 7lb 15oz. Because of his continued loss they scheduled us to come back, Wednesday November 4th, for another weight check. He weighed 8lbs 2oz! Yeah Caleb...gaining weight! Here are some pictures from his first visit to the pediatrician!

Blankets

Leigh Anne's great grandmother Nana Anderson handmade her baby blanket. This was the blanket that she got attached to and wore out! Her Nana had to reattach the "silky" many times! Nana died in 2008 at the ripe old age of 102. When LA's grandma-Meme(Nana's daughter) found out we were pregnant she sent us Nana's last creation, a gender neutral baby blanket! I couldn't believe it-this is such a treasure!
